There are many different ways to grade a student's work. As the teacher, you have the prerogative to set the grading standard. Each school district has its own standard for grading. My mother was an eighth grade English teacher for Fox Chapel school district in the Pittsburgh area. This school district's grading standard was:

The way to figure the grade for your student is to add the points that your child earned (correct answers) and divide that number by the total points possible. This works for individual tests and quizzes as well as for figuring a report card for your student. If you decide to give your student extra credit work, the points that he/she earns would be added to the "points earned" but NOT to the "points possible." Use one of the forms below to help you calculate your student's grade.
